WhatsApp is the dominant messenger in most of Southeast Asia and Latin America. But Telegram has a significant footprint too — especially among developers and technical users in Vietnam, parts of the Philippines, Eastern Europe, and anywhere privacy-conscious users congregate.
If Telegram is where you and your team actually communicate, your uptime alerts should go there too. Here's how to set it up.
Why Telegram for Uptime Alerts
Telegram notifications work similarly to WhatsApp for alerting purposes:
- Messages deliver instantly regardless of device sleep state
- Group channels allow multiple people to see the same alert simultaneously
- Telegram bots make it easy to receive automated messages into any chat
- No phone number required — you can set up a dedicated bot that alerts a team channel
The group channel feature is particularly useful for teams: instead of alerting one number, you can have all downtime notifications go into a shared Telegram group where the whole team sees them in real time.
Telegram Alerts on ndelog

Option 1: Alert to a Personal Telegram Chat
Step 1: In ndelog, go to Settings → Alert Channels → + Add Channel → Telegram.
Step 2: Click the authorization link. This opens Telegram and connects your personal account to ndelog.
Step 3: Confirm the connection. From now on, downtime and recovery alerts appear as direct messages in your Telegram.
Step 4: Assign this channel to any monitors you want to alert via Telegram. Alerts look like:

Option 2: Alert to a Team Telegram Group
This is the more powerful setup for teams:
Step 1: Create a Telegram group and invite your team members.
Step 2: In the group settings, add a bot. You can use @ndelog's integration directly — follow the ndelog dashboard's setup wizard for group channels.
Step 3: Configure the bot to post alerts to the group. Every downtime alert now goes to a shared channel visible to everyone.
This is especially useful for:
- Agencies where multiple developers cover different clients
- Teams with rotating on-call schedules (no formal tooling, just "who's awake")
- Situations where a client or account manager should also be in the monitoring loop
Combining Telegram and WhatsApp
You don't have to choose. On Warden, you can send alerts to both:
